Just before the pivotal Iowa caucuses, South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem made the suggestion on Monday that the Republican Party and its supporters “unite behind” former President Donald Trump.
“We were told that as the field shrinks, the polls would narrow.”
But in recent days, the GOP field has shrunk but “support for President Trump has been growing, now sitting at over 50 percent,” she wrote on X.
Ms. Noem was referring to an Iowa voter poll conducted by the Des Moines Register, which indicates that 51 percent of Republican voters in the state support him. The former president leads both Mr. DeSantis, who is at 19%, and Ms. Haley, who is at 16%, by 32 and 35 points, respectively.
Ms. Noem backed President Trump in September during an event, saying he is the “fighter that our country needs” and added she “will do everything I can to help him win and save this country.”
Top Republican officials in Mississippi, including both U.S. senators, eight out of nine state officials, and all three of the state’s congressional delegation, endorsed President Trump on Monday.
Trump has gained many top GOP officials support such as:
Sen. Roger Wicker
Rep. Kevin McCarthy
Sen. Katie Britt
Etc.
