On Wednesday, the Ohio Senate passed a bill that will prohibit doctors from treating minors with various gender-related conditions and prohibit transgender athletes from participating on teams that do not correspond with their stated gender identity.
According to The Hill, the measure passed the upper chamber in a vote of 24 to 8, mostly along party lines. One Republican voted against the bill. The bill was passed by the lower house 64-28 in June, but it still needs to pass the chamber again for the governor’s signature.
Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican from Ohio, has not said if he will sign the bill if it comes to his desk.
