The Biden administration has flown at least 320,000 migrants into the United States in an effort to reduce the number of crossings at the southern border, according to Todd Bensman of the Center for Immigration Studies.
“The program at the center of the FOIA litigation is perhaps the most enigmatic and least-known of the Biden administration’s uses of the CBP One cellphone scheduling app, even though it is responsible for almost invisibly importing by air 320,000 aliens with no legal right to enter the United States since it got underway in late 2022,” wrote Bensman.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has come under scrutiny for its use of a cell phone app, CBP One, to arrange flights that transport undocumented immigrants into the United States. The flights, facilitated through what some critics deem legally dubious parole programs, allow individuals who cannot legally enter the country to apply for travel authorization and temporary humanitarian release.
According to recent revelations, these flights have led to undocumented immigrants being placed in at least 43 American cities between January and December 2023. Under the terms of their release, migrants are granted a two-year period of legal status during which they are eligible for work authorization.
Initially, the Biden administration faced criticism for its reluctance to disclose information about the airports where these undocumented aliens were being flown into. The administration cited a ‘law enforcement exception,’ expressing concerns that divulging specific airport locations might pose safety risks or create law enforcement opportunities. CBP lawyers emphasized that revealing such information could potentially disclose the relative number of individuals arriving and the resources expended at particular airports.
The lack of transparency surrounding the CBP’s operations has fueled debate about the government’s immigration policies and enforcement practices. Critics argue that the use of parole programs and the secretive nature of the CBP’s activities raise questions about accountability and adherence to legal standards.
As the Biden administration grapples with mounting pressure to address immigration challenges, including the influx of undocumented migrants, transparency and accountability remain central to the ongoing discourse surrounding border security and immigration reform. The revelation of these undisclosed flights and the subsequent scrutiny underscore the complexities and controversies inherent in the nation’s immigration policies. Moving forward, advocates and policymakers alike call for greater transparency and oversight to ensure that immigration enforcement efforts uphold the principles of fairness, legality, and respect for human rights.
Elon Musk responded to the CIS report on X by stating, “Treason indeed! Secretary Mayorkas was impeached by the House for ushering in vast numbers of illegals,” further emphasizing, “They are importing voters. This is why far-left groups vigorously oppose voter ID requirements, masquerading under the absurd pretext of safeguarding the right to vote.”
Musk also suggested that the national security threat posed by the program makes it “highly probable that the groundwork is being laid for something far worse than 9/11.”
