House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Oh.), says the committee intends to question FBI Director Christopher Wray about a document he withheld from Congress and the American public during his testimony on Wednesday.
“For example, this 1023 form that he just keeps dragging his feet on and won’t let the full Congress see,” Jordan said on the “Great American Show with Lou Dobbs.”
“More importantly, he won’t let the American people see this form from a confidential source that talks about this scheme that saw foreign nationals paying the Bidens,” he continued. “And supposedly, according to this source, Joe Biden was going to do certain policy things in exchange for that money. So, you know, we should be able to get that form. We’re going to continue to press on that.”
House Republicans criticized Wray last month for ignoring a subpoena and failing to hand over information relating to the Biden family inquiry.
The form contains details that were sent to the agency in June 2020 by an unnamed insider who claimed that Vice President Biden was involved in a bribery conspiracy. Congressmen were informed of the memo’s existence by FBI informants.
Later in the interview, Jordan stated that House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is considering the possibility of impeaching Attorney General Merrick Garland, who has also come under fire for acting partisan in the course of his duties.
“There are some who have called for a real investigation into impeachment — kind of an impeachment inquiry there,” Jordan stated. “We haven’t moved down that road yet, although Speaker McCarthy has been clear when it comes to the Attorney General, Merrick Garland, that he is very open to an impeachment inquiry with the Attorney General. So we’ll keep pressing.”
Senator Ted Cruz demanded last month that Garland be investigated for allegedly weaponizing the Department of Justice after hearing from sources that the executive branch had conducted politically sensitive investigations unlawfully.
