Joe Biden’s DOJ hid evidence of Hunter Biden’s tax violations and prevented US Attorney David Weiss from filing charges against Hunter in two different counties last year, according to a number of bombshells delivered by two IRS whistleblowers on Thursday.
Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO) claims that Weiss requested to be appointed as a special counsel in the case last year but received the same denial. Furthermore, according to Byron York’s tweets, the IRS attempted to prosecute Hunter with a felony, but after sending their recommendations to the Biden DOJ, the charges “came out as two misdemeanors.”
The IRS was informed of possible evidence “at the guest house of former Vice President Biden,” but were rejected by US Attorney Lesley Wolf, who claimed there was “no chance” a search warrant “would ever get issued,” according to whistleblowers, one of them is Gary Shipley – who came out weeks ago to expose his name.
“Whistleblowers describe how the Biden Justice Department intervened and overstepped in a campaign to protect the son of Joe Biden by delaying, divulging, and denying an ongoing investigation into Hunter Biden’s alleged tax crimes,” said Smith in a statement. “The testimony shows tactics used by the Justice Department to delay the investigation long enough to reach the statute of limitations, evidence they divulged sensitive actions by the investigative team to Biden’s attorneys, and denied requests by the U.S. Attorney to bring charges against Biden.”
Shipley and the other whistleblower spoke for seven hours before the Ways and Means Committee, accusing the IRS Commissioner Daniel Werfel and Attorney General Merrick Garland of lying to Congress about political meddling in the Biden investigation.
“Whistleblower One’s story was corroborated by Whistleblower Two,” said Rep. Kevin Hern (R-OK).
“One individual came forward and laid out the full case of what’s going on. The second individual, through his attorney, asked Ways and Means to contact him and ask for testimony. So we didn’t seek these, they sought us,” added Rep. Greg Murphy (R-NC).
After receiving a denial from the US Attorney in Washington, DC, the team applied for permission to file tax charges in the Central District of California for the years 2016–2019. Shapley found that: “the Central District of California declined to allow charges to be brought there.”
The refusal to file charges in California and Washington, D.C. contrasts sharply with Attorney General Garland’s statement, which indicated in March 2023 that US Attorney Weiss had complete power to “bring prosecutions in other jurisdictions.” Garland said that he would personally see to it that Weiss could “carry out his inquiry” and “be able to conduct it.” Both of those claims now seem to be untrue. (Your humble author believes that at the time, the Republicans were aware that Garland was making false statements.)
Hunter Biden receiving preferential treatment could be an understatement. In actuality, it was sabotage, a deliberate attempt to block investigatory actions and prevent prosecutors from filing charges. The actions of the DOJ included: “included slow-walking investigative steps, not allowing enforcement actions to be executed, limiting investigators’ line of questioning for witnesses, misleading investigators on charging authority, delaying any and all actions months before elections.”
Even though doing so would prevent investigators from receiving certain evidence, the name of Hunter Biden was even removed by the authorities from electronic search warrants and document requests. Joe Biden was present. Hunter Biden is shown requesting that Henry Zhao, a Chinese business partner, pay the promised money in another piece of evidence that was revealed on Thursday.
“I am sitting here with my father and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled,” wrote Hunter via WhatsApp on July 30, 2017. “Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight.“
Then Hunter said, “I will make sure that between the man sitting next to me and everyone he knows and my capacity to permanently carry a grudge that you will regret not following my order if I get a call or text from anybody involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman.
I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father.
